Vilnius University

Vilnius University is a classical university founded in the 16th century. It is the largest higher education institution in Lithuania and offers the widest range of study programmes in the country. The University comprises twelve faculties and includes 21,000 students. See the booklet.

The GENESIS conference will take place at the Old Town Campus, which houses the three faculties (of History, Philosophy and Philology), the Rectorate and the oldest library in Lithuania (see the Venue). The organisers of the conference are affiliated to the Faculty of Philology (Institute for Literary, Cultural and Translation Studies; Algirdas Julius Greimas Centre of Semiotic Studies and Research). The Faculty conducts intensive research in the fields of Baltic Studies and Classical Studies and teaches thirteen languages.

GENESIS VILNIUS is co-organised with The Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore, a state research institute active in the fields of old Lithuanian literature, folklore, mythology, contemporary writing and textual scholarship.
